The family is looking for a warm, highly experienced, nurturing and proactive career nanny who will become a valued part of their family and build a strong, long term relationship with their son. An ideal nanny would be mature, calm, affectionate and extremely dependable, with strong judgement, a deep understanding of child development and the confidence to make sensible decisions independently. The family values emotionally present, responsive and respectful care that builds a secure and trusting relationship with their son. They would love a nanny who takes the time to observe and understand him as an individual, while supporting his natural development, growing independence and confidence through child led play and exploration. Substantial and recent sole charge experience specifically with children around 12 to 18 months is essential, as the family is looking for someone who understands this particular stage of development and has spent significant time caring for newly one year olds. Ideally, they would have 5+ years of professional nanny experience and a track record of longer term placements with families. Proactivity is particularly important to the family, and they would love someone who naturally notices what needs doing, plans engaging age appropriate activities, enjoys taking their son on outings and confidently takes ownership of his day without needing lots of direction. The family values a screen free environment for their son and would appreciate a nanny who keeps personal phone use to a minimum while caring for him, using their phone primarily when necessary to communicate with the parents and provide updates throughout the day. Being fully present and engaged with their son is very important to them. The family also has a much loved 6 year old golden retriever who will be home with the nanny throughout the day, so being genuinely comfortable and confident around a large, friendly and affectionate dog is important. There is no expectation for the nanny to take responsibility for the dog’s care. While Monday and Tuesday are the regular days, flexibility for occasional additional care such as evenings, weekends, overnight care by agreement or occasional daycare back up or pick up would be a wonderful bonus. Any additional hours would always be optional and subject to the nanny’s availability.

Responsibilities

Follow the child’s routine. Educational Activities: Plan and implement age appropriate learning experiences. Fun Outings: Organise engaging outings to museums, libraries, parks, playgrounds, playgroups, music classes and other age appropriate activities. Healthy Cooking: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for their little one, including batch preparing meals during nap times. Light household duties during nap times related to the child (e.g. bottles and dishes, meal clean up, tidying toys and play areas and his laundry). There is no expectation of general household cleaning.

Requirements

Long Term Commitment: Seeking someone who sees nannying as their profession and wants to become a consistent, trusted part of their son’s life for the next few years. Experience & Skills: Ideally 5+ years of professional nanny experience and substantial recent sole charge experience specifically caring for children aged 12 to 18 months, with a track record of longer term family placements. A deep understanding of child development, excellent communication skills, strong judgement and the ability to provide warm, emotionally present, responsive and respectful care that supports healthy development. Must be comfortable and confident around a large, friendly dog. Current WWCC, Police Check, paediatric First Aid and CPR Certificate, Australian working rights and three contactable references.
